Red Cross Fire and Emergency Support Vehicle

Ainscough Training Services are proud to be supporting Fire and Emergency Support (FES). On Wednesday 23rd April, a new Red Cross Fire and Emergency Support (FESS) vehicle was launched at Preston Fire Station.

The new vehicle, which has replaced the current 13 year old one, cost £40,000 vehicle and all the money was raised by generous donations from Lancashire residents and match funding of £20,000 from local firm Ainscough Training Services Limited in Leyland.

Every year, hundreds of families and individuals suffer damage to their homes following a fire, flood or similar incident. FESS volunteers, equipped with the new specially adapted van, respond around-the-clock to provide help when things have gone badly wrong.

Besides offering immediate safe shelter – along with clothing, food and washing facilities – the Red Cross also helps with practical necessities such as securing temporary accommodation and contacting insurance companies.

Crucially, the volunteers are trained to provide emotional support too, which can make a huge difference at such a distressing time.
