2018 is full of promises for those Leaving the Armed Forces, as unemployment remains at a four-decade low

British forces resettlement services (BFRS) National Employment & Careers Fair, returns to Aldershot on the 25th January 2018.

Over 75 companies will attend the event, with one things in common..to gain access to some of the UK’s best talent.

*The figures, released by the Office for National Statistics, show that employment remains at a near record high, with 32.08 million people in work. There are also a record number of vacancies (798,000) in the economy at any one time. This is fantastic news, for those personnel leaving HM Forces in 2018 and any one from the Armed Forces Community (AFC), considering a career change.

Neil Dean, Managing Director of BFRS said,

“Many of the employers who exhibit with BFRS, reconise the wealth of experience and valuable skill sets that ex-military personnel have. We are seeing more and more companies sign up to our National Employment & Careers Fairs, exhibitors at Aldershot include; NUCO Training (Headline Sponsor), Marston Holdings (Bag Sponsor), AWE, Aldi, Heathrow Airport, Surrey Police. We even had to turn away employers, due to the overwhelming interest from companies wishing to employ from the AFC.”

Lieutenant General Richard Nugee CVO CBE, Chief of Defence People, writes:

“For many, the transition from military service into civilian life represents one of the most significant changes an individual and their family will ever experience. It is right that, as a Department, we provide as comprehensive a resettlement offer as possible, and I am proud of the work that we do, with partners such as the British Forces Resettlement Services (BFRS) organisation, to support our remarkable veterans and their loved ones.”

With over 2000 career openings available at this event, it truly highlights these companies’ commitment to provide a positive future for the AFC. It also means people from the Armed Forces Community can choose from a vast array of careers open to them when returning to the civilian jobs market.

Ainscough Training Services Tim Morgan formerly of the Duke of Wellington Regiment & Dale Hoggan whose military life was spent in the Royal Logistics Corp, will be delighted to meet and give you an insight into the civilian life in the lifting industry and the career & funding opportunities

About BFRS

As a Social Enterprise, BFRS provide services to tackle social problems, improve Armed Forces Communities and people’s life chances. Key to this is knowing that military resettlement is more than just the brief time when leaving the Services, and that it isn’t just personnel from the Regular Forces who are affected. Therefore, all the services BFRS deliver are open to Service Leavers, Reserve Forces, Veterans, civilian MOD employees, as well as partners and families, and it doesn’t matter how long or how long-ago people served.
